This is a great tune to learn as a beginner and to learn the scale of E minor. It is also a good tune to practice doing rolls for the first time. It's fairly simple but opens up to lots of possibilities as well. This is one of the first reels that I ever learned, and I want to give you the same opportunity to learn it as well. Here we have a long-time favorite tune of mine: Inisheer. Written by Thomas Peter Walsh fairly recently, it is named after the island outside of the Cliffs of Moher on the west coast of Ireland. I learned the tune in 2010 when I studied Irish music. Later, I traveled to Inisheer in 2017 and finally played the tune on the island. This is a very common polka, much thanks to the movie Titanic (1997) where this tune is played during the dancing sequence in the 3rd class. I like putting this tune last in a set of polkas as a surprise because usually many people know it, and when more people join the tunes, the merrier! This is a great one to end a set of tunes with! It might be easier to play faster since there are not as many notes as in a regular jig. But I often put this together with other jigs even though it is a slide. It does not really matter. Anyway, the tune is great and the videos for this have been updated.
