ABOUT JON
HELLO!
My name is Jon, and music has been a natural part of my life since I was 15 years and I taught myself to play the guitar. I was born and raised in Blekinge, in southeastern Sweden. At 24 years of age, I discovered the Irish traverse flute and tin whistle. I’m passionate about sharing the power and beauty of traditional music.
Over the years, I have played in pubs, festivals and concerts, led many sessions, taught at schools, and held my own Irish music courses, both in groups and for private students. I have also worked as a freelance photographer at festivals and events, contributed to album recordings, and created my own music.
My musical journey has taken me from Braheskolan on Visingsö and Gotlands Folkhögskola in Hemse to the Malmö Academy of Music and the University of Limerick in Ireland, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in traditional and world music.
Here, at Tunes & Tools, I gather everything I've learned so far and reform my knowledge into a pedagogical step-by-step content: tunes, exercises, drones, metronomes, and inspiration.
I hope you enjoy your time here and I look forward to adding even more content as we go!

COWORKERS
I’m incredibly grateful for all the help I’ve received on my journey building Tunes & Tools. Two friends deserve a special mention:
Erik Ronström - My friend and coding hero who helped me create the Drone Circle. Thanks to him, all the drones work exactly as I imagined, in an interactive and smooth little module that makes practicing even more enjoyable.
Per-Erik Ekbäck - My kind and generous friend who has recorded countless piano accompaniments for many of the tunes on the course site. His playing adds warmth and character to the music, and I’m so happy to be able to share it with you here.
MY BACHELOR THESIS: 3 STORIES, 1 FLUTE
The commentary section of my thesis examines how narrative can be conveyed solely through the sound of the flute.
I investigate the expressive possibilities of the instrument, the range of sounds it can produce, and the affective qualities these sounds communicate.
Drawing on my extensive experience in recording and mixing, I construct soundscapes that are interwoven with newly composed musical works. Each composition is intended to embody and articulate a distinct, self-authored narrative.
In my thesis, people listened to the music and told me what they felt and heard. What stories can you hear in these musical pieces?
